FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) sets out requirements that are designed to protect the privacy of students and their parents of record. Federal regulations prohibit the disclosure of a student's financial aid information to anyone other than the student without having an Authorization to Release on file. Exceptions are made for campus representatives, or other designated officials. The Financial Aid Office will only disclose information as allowed by FERPA. We will not disclose a student's information to a parent, a spouse of the student, or any other person unless allowed by FERPA or designated by the student.
To authorize disclosure to specific individuals, including parents and spouses, make sure to use the Authorization to Release information function in MySSU. The instructions are found on the Registrar's website at the Using the Authorization to Release Page.
